BAVATU
Bavatu is an 800 acres private island property on the Island of Vanua Balavu in the eastern most part of Fiji.
Towering out of the Pacific Ocean, Bavatu is a rare jewel of extraordinary beauty. It is surrounded by turquoise lagoons and protective reefs known as the 'Exploring Isles' and is the only coral island in the entire Fijian archipelago.
Originally used as a commercial copra plantation, the island property is one of the oldest surviving plantations in the Fiji islands. Its colorful history goes as far back to when the first European settlers arrived on these shores back in the 1800's.
Even the existing original homestead built by German settlers back in 1896 is still standing. Perched atop a hill over looking Torquoise Bay and the Royal Exploring Isles Yacht Squadron, the house still serves as a vacation residence for the owners and a few privileged friends.
